This is all a bit scary really. The ever continuing greedy drive for profits seems to be forming the mainstay for all our business ethics nowadays.
We can only hope that they loose so much custom that they have to rethink but the very fact that they are prepared to try it is very worrying. I also suspect that it is not by accident that this initiative has been brought up at a time when the world has got to a point where a very high percentage of businesses is very dependant upon such services.
I watched a news item this morning which described the ever increasing trend of rearing African animals on ranches in Texas for the purposes of "Hunting" them. (The story also made the point that, as the animals were reared in captivity, they had no defensive instincts and it was more of a turkey shoot than a hunt. The fact that the business is so successfull indicates not only a total disregard for the welfare of animals but also the fact that there are too many people in the world nowadays with far too much disposable income. |
