Barry,
One of my real pet hates is the way we are following the American claim culture. We have a continuous barrage of daytime adverts persuading us to make claims for everything we can think of to support the "No win no fee" parasite lawyers who generate the culture.
What people seem to forget is that everyone pays for this in the end as higher insurance premiums to support the greedy individuals who think they are onto an easy fortune and the lawyers who egg them on.
A classic example of this was the recent QM2 issue when, due to two missed ports, Cunard offerred a 50% reduction. Under the circumstances this was very generous and well over and above what they had to do but of course the greedy few generated enough publicity to get a full 100%.
Those greedy few will be the ones that put companies out of business in their persuit of unreasonable financial gain and everyone will then loose out.
I see this as a sad reflection of our incredibly selfish society that we are becoming and how far away from the war years we have come when the whole country pulled together. |
