***tigertc, this would be blatently storing copyright material on a retrieval system, and the plans people would quite rightly come down like a ton of bricks.
The idea is just to list plans that are held on file, drawings that people have no further use for like Squiffys but need a good home to stop them getting destroyed,so much has been lost in the past like this.
If anyone wanted to build a model then the plans libary could possibly come to the rescue, parts could be traced straight from the drawing onto the materials for an individual model, after all that is what plans are for, building.
There are many plans published in the public domain that should not be so placed as they still hold a copyright despite their age.
I would not want t get involved with anything that could get John into problems,I know that you will understand.

I reckon we need to find out who has what as far as plans go, then find out who is willing to do the real hard work of spending the hours scanning at the print shop. I would imagine donations will be necessary to cover the cost. I more than willing to put my hand in my pocket for this. If others want to see this project through, someone needs to take charge. It will be more than worth it in the end. I have not come across any other modelling websites that have such an online database. |
