| Yes I will second that, three cheers for Sonic ! every site needs a driving force,I reckon that there is a first class cross section of interests here,I like it because it has a buzz about it,just wait until 12 months on and see the escalation in members/hits,people start to take note all of a sudden, its a real slog at first until like everything else it gets established.
I think that where this site differs is that it helps the modeller on the way up,and that is terribly important, believe me after running 5 model shops over the years there is so much interest out there in modelling that the demand for knowledge exceeds supply,we used to get people in who had messed up their first model and did not know what went wrong, you know the sort of thing, centre of gravity all over the place, warps everywhere they just need a little guidance to see them through, you have to get these things in perspective and just like when you view a childs model oozing in glue, see and feel that pain that they went through ! sad to relate that many clubs have no room for beginners,it's a fact and they just fly for themselves.
My experience is that enthusiasm rubs off onto these people and they take note, one day I want to build like that they say to themselves, and the determined ones do eventually get there.
Taking a newbie under your wing can be really rewarding, one day you will see them flying a pattern ship around the sky, they come up to you and say 'Thanks for teaching me to fly' and you take a step back and think boy that was rewarding !
