It seems that AOL in their wisdom have decided that email coming from this server is spam, as a result new members that sign up will not receive confirmation or activations email and if you are already signed up and are using a aol email you will not be notified of new posts in threads you are subscribed to or new pm's you have received.
I have emailed AOL but don't know when or if they will reply
