Ebay is not much good for this as you need to see and feel the quality of the brush to decide if it is what you want.

I always buy ones with the protective plastic tube over the end so that it doesn't end up getting bent in storage but that's just me.

For things like lights made of solid plastic, paint the lens silver first then paint a clear orange/red/clear paint over it. It will actually look quite acceptable in 1/72nd. Tamiya do those paints in their acrylic range.
