Firstly, the tone of your post is really rather unpleasant, people here are all really friendly, theres no need for that! (even more so if your new!)
Twain drivers can be modified for specific software or devices as the twain system is stand alone to that of the device drivers.
Photoshop uses ITS OWN twain aquire drivers to set an image. This is very useful when dealing with out of gammut colours that your 4.99 argos scanner has trouble with. File>Import>twain_32. Not to mention the large range of twain specific plugins available these days.
PSP uses the stock windows drivers thus doesnt allow so many variables! Try using PSP to do a networked aquire, its not so simple!
BARRY- Brilliant news matey, so glad you got the problem sorted! Theres nothing worse than "niggly" pc problems! You might also be intrested in looking into "infared neg cleaning". Its a process which shines infared light onto the neg to show up any scratchs or marks, one can then easily edit them out. That or use your built in software.
