| When you think of all of those delicate negatives that get scratched and mishandled by the processing shops, it makes you realise how invaluable the digital system is,many negs that I would have thought were scrap have now been salvaged, for example one film got caught in the camera ( remember those days fiddling with 35 mm film on a cold day ? ) you just never could be sure if the film had latched on successfully to the winder mechanism, well this time a score mark appeared across the emulsion, not being one to throw things out,and thinking well one day there may be a solution ? and as luck had it happened and technology led the way to success ! with careful manipulation those scratches have been removed on the entire length of the images, thus saving an historical record for ever more.
Once more remember those old wrinkled photographs of uncle in his army uniform ? well no need now to go to expensive photo retouchers in the high street, everything is now within our grasp with these scanners and the backup software available, still learning but its real fun,and how can you describe the buzz that you get from seeing an image that was taken 50 years ao and has never been properly finished off from that old negative..the experience is just priceless.
Never heard of the infra red process Squiffy,it sounds interesting.
