Nigel, I don't know your experience so if I am telling my Grandma how to suck eggs then I apologise but you must have a bike that you are completely in control off.

This may even mean a bike such as a low rider or a cruiser where your feet are completely flat at rest, all the weight is very low down, the power is manageable and the whole thing is a doddle to control with the missis on the back.

Every bike I have had over the too many years I care to remember have been a bit bigger and a bit more powerfull than the previous one so I have grown into them slowly. I have known a couple of friends who have gone back to motorcycling after a long absence and, not realising just how far things have moved on, have bought bikes that they couldn't handle.
