| You know what they say about the Army/Navy/Air Force Duncan ? if it moves then salute it,if it stands still then paint it ! My son was in the Army Air Corps and said they used to paint the landrovers monthly,take them out on exercises and scratch them,then bring them back and give them a coat of paint.
They must get through a few gallons of paint.
What about a Lynx on a clear grease pole attached to the deck ? you could then hover nicely as you sailed out and I doubt whether you would see the pole from a distance.
