Coming along ok now, ill get some pictures up once there are some worth putting up!!!

The base that came with this model was just a rectangular piece of plastic; squiffy suggested a wooden base would look better.

So hunting around my garage I found something that would be suitable.

A left over length of skirting board which just happened to be EXACLTY the same width as the original base. So after cutting it down with my favorite power tool (my circular saw) I realized it was just MDF with a veneer over it so the edged would look rubbish, so I sprayed it black and gave it a few cotes of matt varnish.

Even though it is not wood colored the curved front makes it look just that much better than the standard one.

I am going to elevate the model with some brass rods as well instead of having it just sit on the base.
