Hi Karlo and welcome the forums, hope you find what you are looking for here as we have a vast range of experienced Modellers here who should be able to answer any questions you have.

In answer to your question above, I have consulted my magic Bible aka The Model Makers Handbook,

Zimmerit can be reproduced in 2 ways as follows:

1. add a thin coat of polyfilla to your model (polyfilla can be found in any hardware shop and is not expensive) and then use a fine hacksaw blade to cut the grooves/ridges...this is as per the real method and can be fiddly to do at model sizes...but can still be done !!

2.Engrave the plastic on the model using a hot needle or pyrogravure to mark out the zimmerit...this might take a bit of time but it can be done and will give good results....the benefit of this is it is easier to control the tool when doing the engraving.....do a test on a scrap bit of plastic first.

I am sure some other answers to favourite methods of doing this will appear on here as there are a few of us tankies on here......so watch this post !!! I am sure Nigel D will come up trumps having seen his excellent tanks !!!

Regards......Mark
