thanks all.. I use a two part clear epoxy casting resin. the one with the seperate catalyst .so i can vary the drying time.I cast in thin layers. adding reeds -vegitation -stirred up mud etc..with each seperate layer of resin..this helps give the illusion of depth..the colour of the water is dictated by the colour of the "river-bed" so lighter at the edges= shallow...darker in the middle= deeper..i used fresh chives for the reed-beds in the water..they were a lovely green colour and just the right shape and thickness..i laid them between the layers of resin in the direction of the flow..and they wont rot..being encased in resin..
