| Iain the President Hi-boy is a true classic trainer but you will need some help as she comes into land pretty fast and you just will not be able to cope as a raw beginner, get someone to help as Duncan suggests with a buddy box set up,this is two transmitters linked together, when you get into problems which you will ! the experienced flyer takes over,I used too have a flying school and used the Hi-boy with great success, when the ARTF ( Amost readt to fly ) scene took place the High-boy sales dropped dramatically, but at least you have built her and provided she has no warps should be ok.
Check the centre of gravity marked on the plan and make sure your model is well within limits, make sure your fuel tank does not have any leaks and is airtight, more problems are caused with bad pipe connections on guel tanks than the engines themselves, run your engine at home first and when running hold the model vertical, the engine should not cut,if it does there is a problem, run the engine rich with plenty of smoke at first as the model engine will lean out as she takes off and gathers speed.
Regarding that four stroke, try setting her up like this, turn the engine over so that the engine is at TDC ( Top dead centre) slacken off the valve gear nut and the lock nut, place a piece of silver foil under the valve tappet and tighten that up so the foil will slip easily in and out,now turn the engine through and do the exhaust setting, set this up exactly the same,if the timing is out then the chances are that the cam is badly worn or someone has dismantled the engine and assembled her incorrectly.
Best to fit a 40 size two stroke, cheap and reliable, keep your fourstroke for the future as Duncan says.
Best of luck and if you need any more help then here is the place to ask any questions.
Once you are flying you will just love it.
