| Sterling Models ' Zero ' Way back in the late 1970's, a freind of mine wrote a series of articles on Co2 powered models for ' Aeromodeller ' Magazine.
One model which built and featured in the series, was a 24" wingspan Sterling Models ' Zero '.
At the time, the model was thought to be a little too big for the co2 engines that were to hand, and the model was put away in storage.
While visiting my friends house, the ' Zero ' from way back, was learking away in the corner waiting to be finished off.
As modern day radio control is more affordable and light enough, I struck a deal and made my way with the Zero for RC conversion.
The model required little work to be made radio control. Ailerons and elevator were hinged with thin mylar. I covered the model with Esaki Jap tissue and two thin coates of dope, airbrushed with enamel paints.
I'm not quite sure if Zeros ever supported this colour scheme, as it was something I just deamed up. I guess there were some many Zeros around at the time, I could get away with it.
The model is powered with a GWS IPS2 motor 6x4 prop, 7x 300mah flight pack, 2 x Blue Arrow 3.5g servos.
At the moment were waiting for a calm day to test. |
