| Northweald Airfield just down the road from me has often been looked at for a possible site to develop. I find it odd how residents complain about aircraft noise during an anual airshow, the alternative is that the site is used for retail parks, low cost housing etc.
There have been a few years where the airshow for whatever reasons hasn't gone ahead. It's also a worry recently when there were a spell of WW2 Restored aircraft having accidents and this would be another reason for the developers to move in, on safety grounds.
The airshows used to be great, with ample pyrotechnics too. I always used to sit on the fence by the road (as opposed to paying) as it's right at the end of the runway and remember terrific views of the aircraft as they flew past overhead.
