I would suggest a look at the built up kits from a few other suppliers first. Converting the Guillow`s isnt all that easy for a beginner and modeling has taken giant leaps since they were introduced. The scale model isnt always an ideal choice either especialy at smaller sizes. Have a look at RBC kits. Jets, scale, non-scale, smaller sizes. Lightweight R/C gear and small electric (brushless and conventional can) make these and other laser cut kits are easy build and proven fliers. Available from Puffin Models in UK(they are expert in electrics) , worth a look even if you stick to Guillows for lightweight r/c stuff.
