You say its a Dlink? Is a ethernet card showing up in the device manager? If its XP, right click on "my computer", choose properties from the menu then hardware tap up top. Look for any yellow caution symbols. This will at least tell you if any hardware is found. They are extremely specific in not only model numbers BUT versions of the particular model. Erm well i did check the card and it says port is working properly. There is no yellow symbol. The laptop is a Advent 7039. I did download some drivers for it but it did not work.
