After reading the comments about more speed I went and had a look inside the model I have of John Cobb's 'Crusader' to check the set-up. This uses a Hacker BSO-11L brushless motor currently running on 12 cells (but can run on more). The esc is a Hacker Master 99-3P. This thing shifts - albeit in a straight line as befits a World Water Speed Record contender of the 1950s. The Hacker url is: http://www.hackerbrushless.com/motors.shtml
Now there has to be something there that will make the sub perform the way you want!
