Hello MIB, just seen your post..

Be careful with a 6V battery fully charged it will be about 7 VOLTS + and may blow the receiver ESPECIALLY if its a nicad pack. Found this out yrs ago, expensive.

Some speedos ( MTroniks ) run BEC ( battery eliminator circuit ) and regulate the power imput to 4.8v from the drive battery. Just check the power of the 6v battery after it has stood for a while after charging PRIOR to plugging it in.
