I think I will go for a 35amp controller using the Marlin direct drive.
I did buy the shaft and the prop was recommended by Brian at Essex Model Centre. However I think you are right and the only way is to test with different size props.
I think also that I will go for the Titan sealed Lead acid battery. It is rated at 7AH. I am not sure about the weight though and I am mindful that this will be an issue. Hopefully this would give a good run time. I will certainly make sure that there is at least a 25amp fuse inline.
This is the first boat I have built in about 9 years as my other vice is model railways (Narrow Gauge), so it’s like starting from scratch again.
