I have finally got the black paint on the outer hull looking half way near decent !
I looked at it again this morning, and I could hardly see the etching around the missile hatches or some of the tiles on the upper hull. So I got my scribe and decided to remove the paint from the etchings around the hatches. Seemed to go really well, then before I knew it I hat re-etched the entire upper half of the hull.
There was black and white stripes everywhere! I got a bit of wet and dry and snaded down the entire hull, basically to remove the now raised edges of the tiles that had quite a bit of paint on them.
Must admit though there were a few times when I thought I was going to have to contact Engel and ask "How much would it be for a new upper hull for a Typhoon?"
But I put a first coat on and it went on really well, and by the time the second coat was dry I am pleased with it. I think with the extra etching the tiles stand out a little more, without looking unrealistic.
So back to the detailing
