Don't forget as well if you are looking for a cheap option that every single scrap fridge has a cracking little compressor in it. In fact the silent compressors going for 250 quid nowadays use the same units as fitted to fridges.

First of all you need to find a fridge that has had the gas safely removed as it is illegal nowadays to release the gas yourself to atmoshere. All you need to do is find the black steel tank at the back, remove it, cut it open and inside is a lovely, probably twin cylinder, little reciprocating compressor unit, ready connected to a 240v motor!!
