Welcome

Welcome to the forum mate.
The answer to your qyuestion is simple and quite common, but not documented by the mighty Tamiya, who simply cannot be bothered with such triviality's.

Before you follow my guide make sure you are using a four channel tx and rx.
Make sure the reciever in the tank is not seperately powered....if it has been in the past or is now,,,there is a possibillity it will have destroyed the DMD multifunction unit. The reciever in these tanks takes its power from the dmd control unit.
Step one.
Disconnect the battery.
Step 2.
disconnect the DMD MF unit from the DMD control unit.
Step 3.
disconnect all cables apart from the motor cables from the dmd unit.
Step 4.
Have the reset guide handy (The bit in the manual that guides you through the dmd set up process with you transmitter)
Step 5.
Plug power into the DMD control unit only (Make sure the battery is fully charged).
Step 6.
Switch on the DMD control unit
Step 7.
Press the reset button on the DMD control unit (The lights will now alternate in colour.
Step 8.
Follow the instructions in the manual on transmitter set up.

Step 9.
Once you have gone through the set up in the manual, Switch off the DMD control unit and unplug the battery.
Step 10.
Reconnect all the cables...and HOORAH you can switch it back on.

I think this problem arrised when the DMD MF unit is powered up without the control unit and somhow gets confuddled<<<<technical term!!!!

Any thanks should go to a much respected member of ours who passed on a couple of years ago and is very much missed, Nigel D. He gave me this info when i had the same problem.
