| Ponchos Rule!! There is no doubt that Pontac's GTO was to me THE nuts as far as Muscle-cars went, and sadly the closest I got to owning the real thing was when I bought an engine from a '66 Goat to fit into my 73 Formula 455 Firebird. This engine was the legendary 428 cubic inch. She had an Arma-steel crank, forged rods and pistons, and big-valve heads and three two-jet carbs....sadly both car and engines have all gone now and I model in small engines of the railway kind but I did look on with fondness at your model Goat.
What made the GTO the stuff of legends?...it was the first of the true muscle cars. Chevrolet, Ford, Dodge, Plymouth, Rambler and even Oldsmobile made them 'go', but for sheer 'grunt' off the line...nothing went like a Pontiac! |
