Hello all,

Its been a long while since I contributed anything to the forum, so I thought I might upload a couple of pics of my RAF collection so far.

My first aircraft was an airfix Tornado F3 which I have previously posted.
Since then I have attempted:

Revell Chinook HC3 - Did not complete as the kit was a real challenge (basically a modified HC2) and I did not make a good job of it. So it got scrapped unfortunately. Also, I found out that the RAF isn't now going to have the original HC3 design because of an MOD admin cockup.

Tamiya Mosquito Fighter Bomber:. Pics attached. A wonderful subject and a wonderful kit. This was my first tamiya kit and wow - how nice it was to put together. Everything went together perfectly. My only comment would be that the decals are really thick, so it was difficult to get them to sit on rivets etc. I had to soften them with vinegar to get them to settle down. Mainly made of wood, and held together with brass screws, this aircraft played a key role in the RAF during WW2 and so it had to be in the collection.

Airfix Sea King SAR: Pics attached (hopefully). This was a birthday gift. An old airfix kit that didn't go together particularly well. But in the end, I think the results are ok. This model got a test flight by my 18month son, so there is a little bit of damage. If I don't point it out, you might not notice. The rescue yellow colour scheme is a real contrast to the usual camo colours. Although the main intention for these aircraft is to rescue downed pilots, they mainly get used for civilian rescues and are a frequent sight in the UK skies.

Revell BAC Lightning: Pics attached. This is work in progress and is most definately my favourate aircraft so far. The kit is nice and simple and goes together well, although there is quite a bit of flash to remove. I think this is a reboxed hasegewa kit. This aircraft has such a striking apearance and it really is a hero of the cold war - Frequently intercepting and escorting Tupolev's over the north sea. The red livery is really interesting and I hope I can finish this model to a reasonable standard.

Airfix Vulcan B2 (Falklands edition): Still in box awaiting build. I can't decide whether to build this in camo colours or the white anti-flash livery of the V Bomber force. I picked up a Bloodhound SAM kit, so I might go for a V-bomber mini diarama... Any suggestions?

As always, everything has been hand painted by brush in acrylics. I have found that a coat of 'poundland' primer does a good enough job to get a reasonable finish on the hand painted acrylics. I am still using hannants xtracrylics, but I have also been using revell aquacolors (which can be quite thick and gloopy and need a good mix).
I still haven't attempted any weathering or panel line shading, as thats still a bit advanced for me.
