Thanks for your 'words'.
Basically, I use a side and a front image, then I cut out numerous bulkheads with the correct widths and heights, glue 1/2 the b/h in the correct positions onto the side view, and fold paper over each segment (ie between each b/h pair, fotocopy it which gives one half of the panel, copy, flip and attach to the side. Then I glue/close the form, see if it fits exactly (usually not!), make corrections until the fit is there.
Programs I use, usually a combination of MSPaint and Photoshop (tried also with GIMP).
I must try out the software you mention, not Pepakura where I didn't get very far.
