Hello all I'm more or less new here but a long time past new to modeling. I turned 84 last Sunday 15.6.08 and have been modeling since 1934. Started with gummy bands and moved to Baby Cyclone ignition in late '36. As a lad I flew at Rosecrans & Western Ave.'s in Southwest L.A. Nice place with nice folks such as Irwin Ohlsson, the Bunch Brothers. Bill Atwood, Hal Atkinson and some of the real pioneers. I was just a kid in the corner but they were kind to me. Flew free flight until the great unpleasantness.
Flew as a ballgunner on B-24's out of Italy. Shot down over Yugoslavia and Northern Italy at Verona. Got pretty tiresome so was sent home to discover U-contrtol and RC in early 70's.
A die hard WWI scaler with a DVII, Eindecker and currently 1/5 scale SE5a. Happy to be aboard |
