Thanks for the tips guys, I will give them some thought.

That site "Welcome to Air-Britain" is fantastic for ideas and colour schemes. I found what I wanted there and more. Brill!
I certainly wouldn't be embarrassed about being a spotter, but I am not unfortunately. Many more years ago than I care to count I would have been classed as though. I could identify any commercial aircraft in the sky. That interest moved onto other things though as I grew up and I can honestly say to my kids now that I have forgotten more than they know, for the time being anyway. Lol!

I think in fairness to Airfix, it is possible that the kits I have are not the most recent. So the quality may not be down to them, but to their subcontractors. Didn't Heller produce a lot for them?
Bring back British quality I say!

I have quite a production line going at the moment with lots of kits in various stages of construction.
