The first time that I saw a waterplane rally was at Trentham Gardens, the sight of numerous seaplanes battling it out around the highly wooded area looked spectacular, one thing that surprised me was the amount of power needed to get a floatplane to lift off the water, one technique is to do a fast run downwind and disturb the glassy surface, then point the model into wind and open up,the combination of floats on a nice scale model make for a good looking model operating from a different environment.
