The Germans were certainly well advanced with rotary winged flight and had high hopes for submarine launched autogyro's,Flettner along with Kamen pioneered the intermeshing rotor principle using very advanced gearboxes for the time, the few specimens that survive in museums throughout the world are a timely reminder of what Hitlers war arsenal was capable of developing,if the Luftwaffe had have been given the chance to develop and the time to test these products then things could possibly have been very different indeed. What they did not have were the right metals and important consumables such as petroleum which was in very short supply.
