On the workbench-Airfix Recovery set.

Many years ago Airfix brought out some great diorama models to be used with railways or airfield layouts, they did amongst others a refuelling set and this latest revamp the recovery set of vehicles, this consists of a Queen mary lorry and a Coles crane.Considering the age of this set the mouldings are as crisp as the day they pressed the first mould at Haldane place ( where Airfix first produced their famous range as a sideline to plastic buckets ! )
Faced with the task of producing a wartime airfield layout for a show in the spring it was time to start gathering together suitable subjects for a diorama, and this one was on the shelves of the local shop to get the ball rolling.
Being in need of a suitable wrecked aircraft to place as a load,I found in the scrap box an old Spitfire which was suitably painted with patches of metal primer and looked as if it was being conveyed to an R.A.F Maintenance unit ! building such a layout is good fun and entails a bit of searching out to find suitable things that can be pressed into use on the layout.
The motorcyclists are mounted onto clear plastic sheet, this way they can be placed anywhere on the layout. So lets finish this model off and go and mix up some paint for the tyres !
