there`s a lot to think about here pres.

first of all electric or ic ?
electric is clean and quiet. but you only get about 8-10 minute runs on a charge.

i.c is noisy, sounds good but not if you have to use in a built up area, a bit more fiddly to start with. and slightly dearer than electric to start with.

both take a lot of constant maintenance and cleaning.

1/10 (electric or ic) or 1/8 (ic only)

1/10 is a good size if you have to carry it or use it in a confined space.
1/8 ic is FAST, and great fun to use.
a good 1/8 starter set is the gv models , REX-X , available for £299 with all rc etc , ready to go , just add fuel.

also to take into consideration , is if you fancy joining a club, find out where near you there is one, pop along and have a chat to some of the guys. unlike some hobby`s , the world of modelling, everyone is willing to share info, opinions and help

visit your local model shop and see what they stock/recomend .

there are so many types, makes .models engines , motors batteries, fuels , rc equipment, cars , trucks. buggies etc to start with.

a good bet is to set a budget and take it from there, it`s very easy to go over board.
