Low Tech but large-Martin Clipper flying boat.

Dont remember posting this one before but it could be of interest ? the model is a Martin Clipper flying boat to 5 feet span, rubber powered and built from a Cleveland Peerless plan, she is conventional balsa stick construction,no frills just good honest construction,I showed the model at Old Warden 15 years ago when I first built her, since then she has had a recover and this year it is into the workshop for skinning with balsa sheet for retirement, the model not me ! she has only flown 5 times with long short duration powered gliding flights from an hillside, very graceful in the air.
The original model was twice this size and the story goes that the plans were drawn up by a serving officer in the United States air force when in Great Britain.Someone just walked in one day and said to me here are some plans I will never build this,so out came the balsa and within a month she was built.
To me it does not matter if a scale model has marginal performance like this one,the challenge is to build something a bit different.
