thats the only image of the early type i can find
*** Basically gloss white overall, allow this to dry out for two days minimum, then paint the gosss post office/imsignia red wings, deck is a royal blue, anti dazzle panel on nose upper is matt black.
Rather than use masking tape which is a bit harsh unless the plastic is really grease free, use Humbrol masking fluid, this is a thin latex material that rolls off easily leaving a nice clean line to the two paint colours, the reason for makinng sure the under painting is completely dry is that if done too quick the top coat will dissolve your work.
Actually I would use matt white first, then gloss red, blue etc finishing off with an overall coat of Johnsons Klear on top of everything which will give a nice shine, further coats get more glossy, you can get a large bottle of this at your local supermarket on the floor polishes section, better by far than any varnish and it does not go yellow with age.
As you are probably now realising in painting models there is a lot more to it than most people think,a lot is about patience and trial and error, hopefully we will have taken a lot of the latter away to assist you.Dont forhet to take some pictures, thank you.
