Pleased to hear you have taken the plunge Trambly, its an avenue I well recommend. It will be interesting to see if you have to pay import tax in France??
What model, make and scale have you decided to build?
If at anytime you have a problem, don't hesitate to ask, this is a very good web site with people that have a lot of knowledge, and are willing to pass it on.
I have just ordered my original tank that I tried to buy, the Tamiya Tiger 11 (King Tiger 56018) which I am looking forward to building, with a bit of luck, I've learned something from mistakes I made ordering the 56010 Tiger.
As for you being competent enough to actually build it, Of course you are, don't rush, read the paper work that comes with it, then if in doubt ASK! use my safety net? The Forum. And most of all, ENJOY IT.
One thing I wish I'd done, but didn't, was to take pictures of the different stages of the building of the model.
