| | Hi I'm New | Decals for African Air forces Hello All,
I am a recent returnee to model making, and am amazed at the advances made in the 20 years I've been away. I've purchased a number of Mig 15 kits in 1/48 , and will also buy some Mig 17s. I know that these types were used by some forces in Africa.
Does anyone know where I can purchase decals for African airforces, particularly Ugandan (for the Mig 17)?
Thanks in Advance

| Howdy Steve, Welcome to the forum and welcome back to modeling. I looked for Ugandan decals in my model catalogs, but havent found any. However, I did a search for "Ugandan air force" in google and came up with this page: http://www.acig.org/artman/publish/article_187.shtml which shows several Ugandan aircraft including the Mig 15 and 17 as well as others. I dont know if you have ever made your own decals, but there are "kits" availible now that allow you to make them on your computer. You could "cut out" the markings in a photo program and then print your own on your printer. Or if you are lacking a photo rditing program and want someone else to "isolate" the Ugandan markings so as that you could print them yourself as decals, I would be more than happy to help by "cutting them out" and sizing them to 1:48th scale (whichever size you need) and emailing the files to you or posting them here in this thread. I noticed that the Ugandan air force didnt have alot of markings on their aircraft so it shouldnt be too much trouble. anyway, if you want to give making decals a try, let me know and I will be more than happy to help with the "cut outs". Have a good day, Greg |

| Howdy again Steve, I just remembered a website that I had posted here in the forum before. It has tons of modelling info and links/contact infomation for not only decal companies, but for everything else you can think of that has to do with modelling. Here is the link: http://www.craigcentral.com/modelmain.asp about 1/3rd of the way down that page you will find links to decal manufacturers that all the hobby shops buy from. By clicking on the names of the manufacturers, you will be taken to their website and most likely their order forms. | | Hi I'm New | Greg,
Great info, I may well go down the "making my own" route. I'll keep you posted. It may be some time, I'm a slow builder, and thanks to a new job just become "time poor".

| | Hi I'm New | News.....managed to track down a set of Zotz African decals via a private seller in the USA. The Mig 17 and Mig 19 kits have arrived from Taiwan. Now if anyone can find me the time, I'll get on with the build.
