Engine Help

Does anyone know of anyone here who manufactures custom add ons for Heli Engines. I have a Brand New SC32H Heli engine which I am fitting into my Bell 230UT. What I am after is a rear cone start to fit on the rear of the crankcase as per the one OS Engines used to do (The OS ones do not fit on the SC Engines by the way)
I do recall a company based somewhere near Macclesfield that used to do specialist orders such as this and for most engines, I think they were called Northern Heli-improvements.
or just Northern Helicopters. Anyone know of anyone else who does a similar service.
I would love to do away with the belt drive start on my heli as the rear of the crankcase on my engine points straight out of the nice big cooling hole in the bottom of my Heli Fuz so it is ideally designed to fit a rear cone start on.

Can anyone help...???

Regards........Mark

have you tried model helicopters

if they do not have what you like they could maybe point you in the right direction.

Someone by the name of Weston UK did all types of small engineering work to order for model engines, also give Midland helicopters a try, they have lots of contacts and have batches of parts made up for them, meanwhile I will keep thinking Bluewave.

Interestingly, ASP (which is also SC) used to make heli engines with rear cone starts. This is going back a while. Whether the cone start and backplate can still be obtained as spares I don't know. Maybe worth a few enquiries. Charles Haytree would probably know and may even have spares. Tel: 01626 852330 or write to:

Hope this helps.

Thanks WowBagger.....will give him a try too. I am even considering an SC52 4 stroke engine for this machine too. I have seen Helis flown on 4 strokes before and they sound very realistic as you can actually hear the rotor noise too.......!!!
The only deciding factor at the moment is whether the 4 stroke will fit in my existing heli.

Regards..........Mark.
