Monogram b-17g flying fortress 1975 kit

      Ahoy modlers

I am a new member I just joined I think I am going to enjoy it here another home away from home.

Here is a 1975 B-17 Flying Fortress I had for years. No weathering at all with the exception of exaust stains. No B-17 looks great without the exaust stains.

I bought this kit when i was still in the Navy in 1975 when it was first releast to the world of modlers. this is a very impressive kit a must for Aviation collectors. For $8.50 you got a lot of plastic now days alot oif money for any plastic. The kit was built Straight out of the box SOB.Only disapointment there weas no bomb bay in the kit useing a hard cover book called Fortress ion the Sky I used this publication as a reference point. I made new bomb bay doors and detailed same. I saved the 4 bombs that came with the kit and I scuttled the bomb cart only regretting that i shouldn't Not much of a picture taker at 70 years of age I am lucky enought to snap a picture or two and still build. Here is the Queen of the 8th

Wow ! An original pre 1979 Monogram B-17. Thanks for showing it,you made a fine job of that.
For those into kit history the bomb bay was added in 1979 to go with the version that had a clear fuselage side. That kit didn't sell well ,though you'll be lucky to find one for less than fifty quid today, but the extra detail was retained in the later versions.
      Cheers

      Hi Franklyn
That B17 looks fantastic you've done a great job on it. I completed the Revell 'Memphis Belle' for my Brother-in-law not so long ago, they make up into impressive sized models don't they!
Your model looks stunning and I've also got to say that it looks a very nice part of the world where you live!
      All the best

      A HARDY THANK YOU

Thanks Fellas for your reply on my flying Fotress This is the first Large scale B17 I ever constructed. I use to have a old Lindberg 1/64 scale B17 I got it for my Birthday in 1956, I was the first 16 year old kid on the block that had a B17, I always wanted to get another of those but not certain if they even make them anymore, I love my Monogram one just the same, Thanks Fellas for your replies I am honered.

Very nice looking B-17. I've picked up the new Revell B-17G kit a couple of weeks ago. I'm thinking about building it as the one based on an airfield not too far from where I live.

      Current Projects:
Captured Russian KV1 tank, Custom 53 Ford Pick-up, Custom 53 Chevy BelAir, M41A3 Walker Bulldog, plus a few more!
