that has to be (for me at least) the top tip of the week! I am always having trouble with decals siting correctly over the surfaces of my models. I will give the white viniger a try next time. |
*** Further tip for you No.6,take a small block of wood about half inch square and long enough to grip, onto the bottom of this simply stick a small piece of carpet underlay, place the decal into water and float off as per normal, now flood the area on your model with the white vinegar and apply the decal with a soft brush, use the brush to tease the decal into place carefully, now carefully take the sorbo rubber tool press gently over the decal, this has the effect of pressing down the softening decal over the various rivets etc, just keep working it flooding with more vinegar if necessary, once the decal is dry wipe over the arera with a lint free cloth dipped into clear water and alow to dry out properly.Should there be any signs of the decal film lifting on the model dont worry just flood the decal this time with Johnsons Klear floor polish ( it is not a polish in the correct sense but a remarkably thin clear acrylic finish which dries beautifully ).Quite often with a lot of reworking, decals will loose some of their adhesive qualities as it is washed away by the excess liquid, the Johnsons Klear will soon fix this, finally for a sealer use another coat of guess what Johnsons Klear ! which will encapsulate the markings for the life of the model.
