Spitfires at an R.A.F Maintenance unit.



Had some fun mocking this picture up of various marks of Spitfire assembled at a typical R.A.F Maintenance Unit circa 1946 say.

Hurricanes as well !



And the next day a gaggle of Hawker Hurricane's turned up as well !

Nice Pic Barry, Interesting too...
Just one question though, is the black one actually a Spitfire...??, Looks more Like a Boulton-Paul Defiant to me from that angle, the Spit resemblance is very apparent though....it did use a Merlin engine after all.

*** Ah you spotted the plant Mark ! correct she is a Defiant,and the aircaft in front is a Spiteful the final development of the Spitfire,the model was built from a Supermarine Attacker jet wings with scratchbuilt fuselage some 30 years ago ! now you can get a kit to save you this trouble.
