Gloster Meteror 1 Prototype

When Sir Frank Whittle designed the first low powered jet engine that was fitted in the Gloster E28/39,it was obvious at this early stage that what was really required to make the engine a practical proposition was a twin jet aircraft,to this end Gloster's quickly evolved the early Meteor jet, from the fairly crude Whittle engine was developed the Welland which was fitted into this aircraft, from these small beginnings we have the sophisticated jet engines in service today,at least Sir Frank had the pleasure of seeing his early humble efforts with inferior metals transformed into jet engine monsters with large output,a great pity that he had been treated so shabbily by the British government and the Americans realising his potential quickly snapped him up !
My diorama shows this aircraft positioned at the fairly remote airfield at Edgehill awaiting tests, what history we can re-create in miniature without any political intervention.

*** Thank you George for your kind nts,the engine nacelles have clear plastic covers that expose the tiny replica engines, having researched the additional cockpit details when it came to fitting them in it was virtually impossible to shoe-horn them into position ! scale is 1=48th by way.

A better view of the aircraft showing the engine details squeezed into the engine nacelles,I dont normally go for gimmicks but thought that this does not detract too much from realism.
Note the dog and handler ! the serial is marked DG202/G the 'G' denoting must be guarded at all time,a requisite for such closely guarded secret aircraft at that time.
