Focke Wulf FW.190

Here is another blast from the past,a Focke Wulf FW.190 in 'Rafwaffe' colours, she flew beautifully but the model was dogged by bad luck, firstly she caught fire after the engine backfired one day burning the cowling and leading edge of the wings, then after repairs she was crashed on purpose to avoid hitting a silly irresponsible club member, who walked out in front of the model just as I was on finals,I had to dive her in and she was destroyed, you really have to fly a model like this they dont glide very well with such a high wing loading, and the last thing you want is someone getting in the way like this.

Nice looking model Barry,
I hope the silly club member was suitably shot !!! or barred from the flightline

I would have billed him for the cost of the plane same as he would have sued you if it had hit him !!! (Especially with the compensation culture vultures these days !!!)

Regards.......Mark

*** Mark he broke every rule in the book re flying safety,he never even looked to see if there was anyone on finals, just walked out straight in front of me holding his running model,I called landing twice but he was so fixed with his own desire to get airborne, want to hear the final joke,he became safety officer of the club a few years later ! to me safety is all about common sense and good airmanship, when I ran a flying school the emphasis was on proper circuit flying with adequate spacing between models,if you fly proper circuits then everyone knows where the models should be,but sadly not many flying fields keep to proper circuits as our full size counterparts.Look out is also an important part of any flying procedure.
