1/48 Messerschmitt Bf109 F from Hasegawa

Here's the Hasegawa 1/48 Messerschmitt Bf109 F. The Hasegawa 109s are great kits but I improved this one by adding the Aires resin cockpit set. Hope you like it.

*** Steve congratulations, what a beautiful model that you have created ! I like the subtle paint finish, perhaps you can tell us more about how you acquired this ? despite the Bf.109 being one of the most modelled WW2 fighters seeing one so well built as this really is great, whenever I see this design it reminds me of one of the Battle of Britain memorial flight pilots when he sits in the cockpit of one for the very first time, his words echo this-'I would not have liked to have gone to war in this machine' it just goes to show what men of iron those pilots must have been on both sides.
Lets see more of your models here.

Thanks for the compliments. The model was painted with a Badger 150 airbrush - the only way I know to get the soft mottling effect on these camouflage schemes. The knack is to have the paint well thinned and the airbrush pressure set to low - oh and lots of practice on a piece of card or similar to make sure the pressure and paint mix is ok before applying to the model. The splinter camouflage on the wings and upper fuselage is done freehand first and then the mottling blended in to match afterwards.

I have attached a couple more images with a bit more detail.

This aircraft was flown by Werner Molders in Russia in 1941.

Great job! I have just purchased an airbrush for the first time and hope to attain your standard. (Won't be using it for a couple of months as we'll soon be moving house). After that I have either a Ju88 (1/72 Revell kit) or a FW190 (ancient 1/48 Monogram) which I'll be tackling.

The revell kit i believe has engines that you can display and the monogram 190 has a great cockpit. I look forward to seeing the results mate
