Here's a little picture that always get's me yearning for those calm and warm summer evenings, you know, those lovely evenings when you just want to drift around with a floaty four stroke powered scale model. Well, at this site a friend (mentioning no names!) and I had scale grass runways too! It was terrific fun doing bumps and circuits especially when there was a cross wind. Lovely stuff... The aircraft pictured are my Ryan NYP "Spirit of St. Loius" and my Brooklands Parasol.

Flat fields and runways.

Memories, memories,so much water under the bridge, let me just think of what we had with that field, well as you say there was runways cut as fine as the bowling green ( remember that dam big thistle right at the end of 08 ! ) sat right on top of this man made hill, you could see for miles and our favourite party piece was to actually fly below the level of the hill,so we really were flying above sea level at times on the plateu,it was a bit of a pull up the hill with all your kit but well worth it,although we never flew there many times the memories are still there,if you had the misfortune to have your engine cut then you would finish up in one of the trees because they too were below the height of the strip,it was a real technique to fly there.
Yes remember the Ryan N-Y-P following the railway line track just as if you were setting off across the atlantic,it certainly had character that field.
Still got the super mower sitting in the shed that we bought to cut the strip, thinking that one day it will be required to do a similar job.
