Buccaneer 2 hours later

This is the same model 2 hours later. The tail fin has been attached and the seams rubbed down. The brown paint is acrylic and i have used it as a highlighter for the top coat of desert pink/sand. The paint acts like filler for the really small seams , like tippex. Ive used this method for years and it works. I still use tippex as well but i wanted something to show through. The desert storm aircraft got very dirty and worn paint was the norm. Ive now gone a bit further and added the horizontal stabilisers and fitted the seats and windscreen and blast screen , as well as paintinginside the exhaust pipes and intakes. The canopy is too low comparedwiththe windscreen so im going to add a thin strip down each side to raise it up a tad.

Hi Barry, Sorry just been on phone to police regarding sunday. No its actualy Tamiya dark brown paint.I used it like tippex for smoothing out the joints.Ihavea really old pot of jn deck tan that i use . Its very usefulfor giving it that start. Saves priming the whole aircraft.

Good idea,I sometimes use that cellulose grey car body filler for the same purpose, fills mild crevices without any long drying times, knife it in with a palette knife and rub surlpus off with a damp cloth, old thicker paint like you have used is also excellent.

Today got the canopy detailed and attached.Painted airbrakes but not before adding more lightning holes. Got agood set of photos from Newark museum a few years ago and they show that there are more holes than airfix put on .

Buccaneer Update

Masked the canopy and windscreen. Gave it a coat of Desert Sand Hum 240 .Used a brush for first coat. When dry will give it a light coat with the airbrush . The preshading has worked with a hintof the grime and wear showing through .Will leave it to dry and carry on .
