Remarkable Detail and superb modelling.

http://www.ipmsdeutschland.de/Flugze..._Catalina.html

You just have to see this persons approach to detail,no etch parts just good old plastikard, study the tiny parts all to 1=48th scale, very skillful.

Absolutely stunning. That wheel assembly and those electrical boxes are simply amazing. I would love to see them when he has painted them.

It almost seems a shame to glue the two halves together though!

i agree! maybe he is going to make it so it can be taken apart at any time (for the sake of comming 1st in the next comp maybe?) he even has the plug sockets and cable housing running between them. i dont think i have ever seen that much detail put into a model!!!

how did you find yourself on a random german website then Barry?

That is very good indeed. Can someone tell me why he needed to ballance a model which looks like a bench flyer? Sounds rude but is NOT meant to be!

The Catalina used a nose wheel but the model would almost certainly sit on its tail if it was not weighted at the front.

A bit more interest here, particularly for Barry bearing in mind his Meccano posts.

Superb, right down to the Elsan and bog-roll ! I would have thought painting some of the parts would have made things a bit easier. Going to look great when finished.

***Thanks for this Richard,I was not aware of this model until now,in fact I like it so much that would like to make one myself in Meccano,he has tackled the thick wing very well, the internet is so full of surprises and gems just waiting to be found, and this is one of them.

***Richard,a good question ? these things just seem to appear when you are looking for something entirely different, you start with a simple search then after getting sidetracked find yourself on a site like this ? but I am glad that we found this one,the standard of construction for plastic scratch built parts is exceptional, the biggest problem being simply holding them in a pin vice !

Barry, As you said I was actually looking for a picture of a 'Cat' to make sure that it did use a nosewheel, as I suspected,to answer Flytilbroke's question when I stumbled across the meccano model.

Pure coincidence but just goes to show what you can stumble accross when you are having a browse.
