You are in the middle of the oceans, ahead is a speck which is your landing ground, you have to get it right first time otherwise a go around is not an option, the carrier seems to loom up mighty quickly, take a look.

That's a great bit of film! I'm quite happy in the knowledge that i'll never have to do that. I'll leave being a Pilot on a carrier to the pro's!
One thing to bear in mind too is the fact that the pilots have to wait until the arrestor wire catches as otherwise they'll have to throttle up (pray) and try to take off again.
The closing speed to the carrier is frightening, thats a big chunk of steel and it still looks like you're moving very fast towards it!
What's the aircraft by the way - is it a Corsair II?
not a corsair II Alan, that was a 2 seater (side by side) not sure what it was! nice video Barry thanks! maybe its a small private type jet as im not sure what 2 seater like that is used by any military that has windscreen wipers :S
any ideas anyone?

That was a great piece of film. It was very interesting to see that. it does look scary when you coming up to the carrier. I have no idea of what the carrier is as i dont have any knowledge of boats.

Oh it's pretty crazy the first time you do it. My first trap is still a blur to me. What I think is more fun is the cat-shot... 0-130 knots in about 3 or 4 seconds.
By the way, there's perhaps a misnnomor in the title, I'm thinking that's an E-2 or a C-2. No O2 masks (boom microphones) and no refueling probe on the nose.
