| Grumman Ag Cat. This one was built from thick card scrounged from those beer advertising signs, then the card was treated with brushed on epoxy resin, result a very tough surface ! originally powered with a 53 sized four stroke, flew well despite being a bit on the heavy side, withdrawn and awaiting a rebuild one day.
Full size Ag Cat is a agricultural spraying machine designed to operate from un-prepared fields, some versions fitted with turboprop engines, this version has a whopping great radial up front-love em !

| Bit much dihediral on the top wing maybe? Reminds me of the post I put on the Forum a few weeks ago looking for source of foam-board for a friend who was building the ugliest model I`ve ever seen...a Mud Duck.(Not that your bipe is ugly Wonwing) He got plans from U.S. and an extra set of plans for an Agri Duck. Low wing monoplane with characteristic crop-duster look and using the quick-build methods of the Mud Duck. Since then we have located a source but he had to buy a hundred quids worth of the foam-board ,he has a lot left ...sooooo...might be tempted to go agricultural myself ! I`ll have him post a pic of both and details of plans etc. It is BIG and a cheap intro to large models. 90 size engine upwards. He needs to get rid of the surplus foam-board. Might be the start of a cult, like Lazy Bee`s, but larger. It IS ugly . Dont know if there are any in UK so far. |

| You are quite right about the dihedral Duncan, cannot remember why I put so much in at the time ?
Yes I have some Mud Duck plans that a friend gave me to build, what a monster ! apparently it flies on a 60 sized motor easily because it is so light, the wing construction is interesting as you just crease the foamboard sheet and join it at the trailing edge.
To finsh you can paint her in acrylic with a bit of fuel proofer around the nose.
Its good stuff this board once you master how to use it,light and clean as you can build in the living room with no sanding mess.
How about foamboard inner structure built like an egg box crate and then planked on the outside with good old balsa ? should work well.

| The Mud-Duck plans we got have sort of Jedelski wing airfoil with only the front 1/3rd a full depth box and a curved single surface to the T/E. I feel like continuing the bottom with a slightly concave sheet to the T/E to give a "proper" undercambered airfoil. It would also give a bit more rigidity to the wing for little weight penalty. Cardboard tube wheel hubs, yikes ! Seems the company that made the original kits sold the rights to someone who plans to rework them. Some were made of balsa, must have cost a slice of the rain forrest to produce. If you kept the timber-work rough and added an "Engaged" sign on the door you would have the original flying dunny The Ag-Duck is more like it. Check out www.rc-cropduster.com for some proper models of that ilk. If`n when you start your Mud Duck ,you know where to get the foam-board, get the floats on you can collect as much as you like at Loch Insh in Sept.

| Yes it will not win any awards for looks Dunc, but that material has an amazing resiliance like nothing else around,I think the design could be cleaned up a lot to get rid of the boxiness,my foamboard De Havilland Dragon is elsewhere here and I intend to do another model of home brew this winter with this material.
I was experimenting today seeing how it can be made to curve, tried bending a piece over wooden strips and provided that you make an impession with a hard leaded pencil it gives nicely at that point, secret is balsa spars glued onto a panel, some guide ribs say one at the root and tip, then bendo ! tack glue and tape up.
