Typhoon restoration progress.

Well the wings are now assembled, undercarriage overhauled, new tail made and fitted, everything skinned up.
At least I can now pick her up without bits falling away as all accesible glue joints have been attended to with modern adhesives, the critical stages are over, some original shortcomings in particular the centre section have been beefed up.
Note in the underneath view how much she really does look like the Focke Wulf 190,little wonder they painted special black & white stripes so our gunners would not shoot them down ! aircraft recognition in those days was so important.
So all I have to do now is build a new spinner, exhaust stacks and some cannons, then it is the long job of finishing to do,I am glad now that I put the effort into this restoration, she nearly went into the bin for sure.

if i could nominate it model of the month i would do so,
not necesarily because its bueatiful, or engineered well,
but purely due to nostalgia and the effort you have went to to bring it back.

well done m8

Thanks everyone for the kind comments,I was amazed at how much strength that thin sheet has made to the structure and it will last much better than tissue, somehow tissue over those wings would not have looked quite right on a model this size, after all the full size is dural sheet covered.
More progress pictures will follow as and when more work is done on her.
